Dear Family of Frank Macon, My sisters and I once met Frank at a Colorado Springs Natives' Club meeting. He was a fascinating guest and as natives, our paths had crossed before. Our family owned the Pine Valley Dairy (now on Air Force Academy grounds) from 1935-1945. My older sisters, Joan & Marlene, remember the Pine Valley Airfield was on a ridge above the valley, not where the Air Force Academy Airfield is today. They rode their horses up there to watch small planes take off and land, probably one of Frank's! Our parents, aunts and uncles , and ourselves all graduated from Colorado Springs/Palmer High School also, We three sisters had long civil service careers at Fort Carson, Air Academy, and NORAD. One of my most beloved co-workers was Marion Rodgers, another Tuskegee Airman, Lt Col, pilot, who passed away at 95 in 2017. I am sure he and Frank knew each other. These men were true heroes in a time that did not readily accept them, working doubly hard to achieve their dreams and serve our country.
Our hearts, prayers and sympathy to Frank's family, Carol Todd, Joan Roberts, Marlene Clayton (Potts Family of Pine Valley Dairy)
CAROL J TODD
