MORTON - Andrea Mammen, 37, of Morton, formerly of Delavan, passed away at 4:57 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on January 7, 1983, in Peoria to Douglas F. and Kathy J. Wagoner Smith. She married Matt Mammen on May 5, 2013, in Bartonville, and he survives.
Also surviving are her parents, Doug and Kathy Smith of Delavan; one son, Russell Mammen of Morton; one brother, Jacob (Samantha) Smith of Deer Creek; and Matt's family, Rick and Callie Mammen, Melody (Clint) Stout and Judge and Bev Groenewold.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, maternal grandmother and one uncle.
Andrea graduated from Delavan High School, Illinois Central College, Illinois State University and received her doctorate from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
She was employed as a clinical psychologist at Psychology Specialists and led the Pekin office.
Andrea loved her family, friends and all animals, especially Cheetah and Kitten. Her favorite pastime was engulfing herself in a good book. Aside from being a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, she was also a perfect model of positivity, kindness, generosity, acceptance, empathy and hope. Everyone she met is better for having known and been loved by her.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morton, where her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020. Pastor Gabe Wanck will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Social distancing guidelines will be observed during the visitation and funeral and masks are required.
Memorials may be made to an educational fund for Russell, established at CEFCU in Morton.

Andrea was the best part of internship, and a major reason why i got through it. That was 10 years ago, but we still talked almost on a weekly basis for the next 8 or 9 years... She was funny, so smart, caring, and a great friend. Every time i hear about another clinician struggling to keep up with their notes, i think ‘well let me tell you about my friend Andrea...’ Her love of cats and reality television is something we always shared together; that is until Russ came along, and then our kids were all we talked about (after our in depth psychological discussions about the Challenge or Teen Mom). We never got the chance to have our reunion and our kids meeting, and that makes me so sad. She was the best person and friend. I will truly miss her very much. My birthday was two days before hers, and although i would tease her about being the older and therefore wiser friend, if was she who showed me what true kindness and optimism looks like. My thoughts are with Matt, Russ, her brother and parents, and family and friends. May her memory be a blessing

Seeing her beautiful smile makes my heart ache even more. She was so much more than a psychologist to all of her patients. My heart aches for her family, friends, and patients. She will truly be missed... Praying for her family through this never ending difficult time. Thank you Dr. Mammen for all that you did for me... I miss you already.

I was a patient of Dr. Andrea’s since August of 2012. Eight years I was blessed to form a trusting friendship with her. I often said, if I had met her any other way than as my doctor, I just know we would’ve been friends for sure. We were only about 6 months apart in age and sometimes, time would get away from us in our one hour session because we would just be chatting and talking about music, concerts, fashion or something fun. We shared a love for animals, especially our cats so that was a common topic for us too. She helped me so much with things over the years. She met my wife and daughter many times over the years too who also thought so highly of her as well. I remember my daughter would color her pictures when she was younger and Andrea would hang them in her office. She was always so bright and smiley and we’d have such good laughs. It was always so hard to walk away from a conversation with Andrea. She often spoke of her family, especially her Mom, Matt, & Russ. I feel so lucky I got to know her and will always cherish the many times we talked & the tools she provided me with along the way. I know I’ll still often think of Andrea at hard times & what advice she would give me. She was so accepting of people and just an awesome person. She made such an impact on my life & the lives of so many others in her work. Andrea was a light that will continue to shine in my life and all who knew her forever. Thanks so much for all you did for me, until we meet again Andrea.

Andrea was such a kind and empathetic person. I was one of her clients at the Pekin Office of Psychology Specialists. Even though I had only just met her in August, I adored her and was heartbroken at the news that she had passed away.
While she let my tears fall, she always told me a good story or funny joke just to see my smile before I left the office.
Rest easy, sweet angel and prayers and good vibes to the family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Andrea was much more than a counselor to me, but a friend. In many ways she single handedly turned my life around. As a kid I struggled constantly with a deep, dark, unforgiving depression and at times when no one could make me laugh or smile she could effortlessly. I can't begin to explain how much that meant and still means to me. She was there for me no matter how dark it got, no matter what I was feeling-she helped me through it. I grew up as she helped me for years into someone I can finally say is much better now, I am so glad I had her in my life. She inspired me to become a Psychologist myself and I'm so thankful I was able to tell her about me starting my associates in Psychology. I'm thankful for all the wonderful happy memories she gave me, and her guidance. Your family will be in my prayers, hang in there.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
