PEORIA - Cathy G. Behrll, 67, of Peoria passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at her home.
She was born on July 25, 1951, in Peoria to James and Ruth (Boland) Lowery.
She is survived by her four children, Jim Behrll of Elmwood, Mike Behrll of East Peoria, Melissa (Scott) Buhl of North Pekin and Wendy (John) Henton of Chatham; twelve grandchildren, Matthew, Justin, Chase, Tyler, Hailey, Isabelle, Anthony, Hannah, Brayden, Natalie, Maggie and Makenzie; six siblings, Nonnie (Sheldon) Smith of Edwards, Nancy Rohrer of Peoria, Ruth (Jerry) Stewart of Peoria, Tom (Jennifer) Lowery of Rock Island, John (Joy) Lowery of Chillicothe and Jim (Pam) Lowery of Glen Ellyn, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her baby sister, Kimberly.
Cathy graduated from Bradley University in 1999 with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education. She then received her Master's Degree in Special Education in 2003 from I.S.U. and a second Masters Degree in Academic Leadership from American College of Education in 2012. Cathy worked as a Special Education Teacher with District 150 until retiring in 2016. She was devout in her faith and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria, as well as a member of PFT and AFT teachers unions. Cathy was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan as well as a Iowa Hawkeyes Fan. Cathy began her new life as a double lung transplant recipient on May 24, 2013.
A visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria. Cremation will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Center for Advancement - Lung Transplant Fund or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, lung transplant team for the opportunity for an extended time with her family and friends. The family would encourage others to become organ donors to share the gift of life Cathy enjoyed.
