David Kluever
PEORIA - David Charles Kluever beloved husband of Lisa (née Boysen) passed away on May 20th at the age of 61. Formerly of Peoria, David resided in Lake Forest, Illinois with his wife, Lisa, and their dog, Gracie.
David was born on August 14, 1958 to Geraldine "Jeri" (née Poad) and Gary Kluever in Peoria, Illinois; grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Kluever. He grew up alongside younger siblings Cynthia and Brian in Northbrook, Illinois where he attended Glenbrook North High School, class of 1976. David continued to DePauw University, class of 1980, where he was a member of the football team and joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. He then earned a law degree from Case Western Reserve University, graduating class of 1983. David matriculated at John Marshall Law School to earn his Master of Laws degree in 1987.
Love and vigor truly embodied David and his legacy; he never did anything he didn't feel passionately about and he approached everything at full speed. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, his children, Brad (Erin), Erik, and Meredith (Hunter); his mother Jeri, and siblings, Cynthia and Brian (Claire); seven nieces and nephews; his two uncles John C. Kluever (Judy) and William J. Poad (Anne). His family misses him dearly and will fondly remember him and all that he represented.
He practiced law for the state of Illinois where he counseled more than 20 appeals in the Illinois First District Appellate Court and Illinois Supreme Court. David co-founded Kluever Law Group (formerly Kluever & Platt) in 2001.
David's life can be summarized by words and accomplishments, but it was his actions, hobbies, and passions that defined him as the larger-than-life character he was. He was a loving husband, son, father, and friend to those lucky enough to be in his far-reaching circle.
A celebration of life will be held for David when we are able to gather again safely. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Driftless Area Land Conservancy, www.driftlessconservancy.org, to help preserve an area that captured David's heart.

I heard the news of David's passing this past Monday during a visit with mutual college friends in Bloomington, Indiana. I knew of David at DePauw, where we were classmates, but I really got to know David at our subsequent class reunions where we had the opportunity to talk late into the night. This year would have been our 40th Reunion, if not for Covid-19, and I was looking forward to reconnecting. David was an impressive guy. His professional accomplishments speak for themselves. But my heart goes out to his family, most especially to Lisa. You will all be in my prayers. I know David is hiking and skiing heaven's trails. May God bless him.

Being from Platteville, WI and living in Peoria, I am part of the Driftless Area Land Conservancy in Dodgeville; I chanced upon David's obituary and read of his wishing memorials sent to them and it made me so grateful for this lasting legacy....I didn't really know David but he looked familiar and was obviously a generous and loving gentleman who passed much too soon as many have this year. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy in your profound loss. Being an environmentalist is such a worthy trait today...they are doing so much to endeavor to save our land and everything connected with it.
When I was at my family home in October, I went to the Dodgeville office to meet the staff...they are such a dedicated family of nature's best lands.
I formerly resided near Northbrook I Itasca when a former husband was a golf professional at Medinah so am familiar with the area....I am however a true Wisconsin product.

Again, please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss and my heartfelt thank you for the memorial...it indeed is an area that does capture our heart. God Bless all of you.

Respectfully,

I was stunned to hear the unbelievable news of Daves most untimely passing. We shared the same birth year and were friends for over 35 years. For many of those years, we shared happier times, especially together with our wives ( Denise is mine). He also handled all the real estate work as my law firm was established and grew. Along that journey together, I always marveled at Daves quick wit, raw intelligence and his remarkable sense of humor. He missed his calling as a standup comedian notwithstanding his obvious skill as a determined counselor and litigator. Most importantly, Ill always remember Dave for his big heart. As we all get older and hopefully finally understand the more important things in life, Its that last trait of Dave that should best define the person well all so deeply miss and mourn. Although all too short, Dave truly lived a life well lived. We all could be so lucky. Ill miss you Dave.

In writing my thoughts of David I find myself in a state of shock and sadness over this tragic loss. I have nothing but the fondest memories of David. He was the type of person who was always honest and forthright. His love of the outdoors and his excitement for living was admirable. I will always remember his robust laughter when he was telling a humorous story. Mostly, I will miss seeing that incredible smile.
Lisa, I hope when you feel up to it, we can talk. Brad, Meredith and Eric, I hope you will always have a bit of your dads humor and excitement.

My breath was just taken away, minutes ago, when I read about David in the Daily Law Bulletin...I had no idea...
An amazing tribute to an amazing man...a friend from long ago who had just rekindled our times together with some recent contacts earlier this year. My heart is broken to have the world lose such a vibrant, energetic, unselfish man, lawyer, husband, father, friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa, Brad, Meredith and Erik.

I was sent news of Dave's passing this morning. I was fortunate to have Dave as a roommate for two years in law school at Case Western, where I also met Lisa. I attended their wedding in Elyria, Ohio. Dave was a great friend, had a sharp, logical legal mind and had incredible, infectious energy. Best of all, a great sense of humor. While we had lost touch over the years those great memories of Dave have come flooding back with this terrible news. Much too young. My thoughts are with Lisa and his family today.

David, Im still not over the shock. A young man that influenced everyone he knew. To many memories. Going up to the farms, starting a painting business together, GBN football, Glencoe Beach, time spent on parents boat, skiing at Snowmass. I could go on forever. I hope you were listening when we virtually roasted you on a zoom call. The world and friends will greatly miss your passion to live life to its fullest.

Dave was a Fraternity brother and despite many many miles and years --he kept in touch. He had a contagious laugh and a lightening fast sense of humor. I know--how much he loves his family and his friends in Chicago. No matter where the conversation started --it would always en d up -around how much he loved his wife and kids. How proud he was of them. I have a difficult time believing he is gone. Godspeed my friend- I hope and pray Heaven is awesome!
