Georgia L. Carrier
PEORIA - Georgia Lee Ragsdale Carrier, 94, died at 5:59 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
Georgia was born on November 20, 1923, in Yates City, IL, to Myrtle (Graham) and Roy Ragsdale. She married Charles Carrier Jr. on June 9, 1946, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1988.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Carrier III.
Georgia is survived by her children, Cynthia (Stephen) Roszell, Christopher (Lynn) Carrier and Curtis Todd (Tina) Carrier. She had nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who brought her much happiness.
Georgia graduated from Farmington High School, where she was active in music and theater. She was named "Miss Farmington" her senior year of high school. After graduation, she moved to Peoria and worked in the accounting department for Caterpillar. Later in life, she worked for Peoria County, testing children for hearing losses in the public school system.
Georgia loved the Peoria Symphony, attending theater productions, dancing and singing. She usually had a song to sing for anyone who wanted to listen. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and felt fortunate to be able to see the world. Family, friends and her faith in The Lord gave her strength. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Peoria.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A private immediate family gathering will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria.
"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done."
