Gretchen Ann Sidell
PEKIN - Gretchen Ann Sidell, 35, of Pekin passed away at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on December 2, 1983, in Pekin to Donald H. and Julie (Onken) Sidell Jr.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Fred "Harvey" Onken; her paternal grandparents, Donald and (Hannelore) Sidell Sr.; and her aunt, Pat Vandeschraaf.
Surviving are her mother, Julie (Conrad) Ozog of Pekin; her father, Donald Sidell of Pekin; her maternal grandmother, Fara Onken of South Pekin; her sister, Emmy (Jeremiah) Thies of Pekin; her brother, Nathan (Monica) Sidell of Morton; two step-sisters, Rachel (Karl) Ozog-Tooren of Streamwood and Sarah (Justin) Au of Rolling Meadows; two nieces, Kira Thies and Lila Thies, both of Pekin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves behind many close friends.
Gretchen liked to come up with recipes for her mom to try, enjoyed watching cooking shows and even had her own cooking blog. Gretchen also found enjoyment listening to books on audio, shopping and leading Bible study at church. She also did some inspirational talks for her church, Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church, area nursing classes and at the Cunningham Children's Home in Champaign.
She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. James C. McClarey, the Rev. Heather Robertson and the Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, both at the church. Burial will be Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
