BROWNING - Mary Lois Hamm, 90, of Browning passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
She was born on November 21, 1927, in Sheldon's Grove, IL, the daughter of Willis "Gabby" and Doris (Lane) Hamm. She married Petie "Pete" Hamm Jr. on March 15, 1947, in Virginia, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2018.
She is survived by two sons, Michael "Mike" (Ann) Hamm of Tucson, AZ, and Virgil (Marsha) Hamm of Browning; one daughter, Sheila (Richard) Krider of Vermont; five grandchildren, Michele "Mickey" Reed of Rushville, Jeffrey (Connie) Jackson of Chatham, Petie (Emily) Hamm of Rushville, Jason (Dev) Krider of Miami, FL, and Michael Hamm of Tucson, AZ; eight great-grandchildren, Lacey, Cody, Fischer, Ryan, Natalee, Rachel, Gage and Rex; two great-great grandchildren, Gemma and Spencer; one brother, Robert "Bob" Hamm of Browning; one sister, Clara June Hamm Little of Beardstown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant granddaughter, Barbara Ann Hamm; four sisters, Dolores Hamm, Ruth Smith Bechard, Bette Lybarger and Linda Pierson; and four brothers, Richard, Charles, Roger and John Hamm.
Lois attended Browning School and was a member of Browning United Methodist Church. She enjoyed visiting with friends over lunch at the Browning Senior Center. She worked at Mickelberry Packing Company in Rushville, prior to her marriage. Lois and her husband owned and operated Hamm's Fish Market in Browning for many years.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Browning Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Browning United Methodist Church or Browning Senior Center.
