Ronald Hardgrove Obituary

Ronald Hardgrove
PEORIA — Ronald Hardgrove, 76, of Peoria passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at his home.
Ron was born on June 21, 1942, to Al and Ruth (Noonen) Hardgrove. He married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Maliskas, on April 20, 1963, in Westville, IL. She survives. Also surviving are their children, Mark (Cathy) of Torrance, CA, Noreen (Nick) Hardgrove of Chicago, Kathy (Mark) Gilles of Washington, Michelle (Scott) Voris of Aurora and Sarah (Tom) Koleno of Chicago, as well as 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one son, Nick Hardgrove; and one daughter, Rosalind Hardgrove.
Ron attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Bradley University. He worked in the real estate industry in the Peoria area for over 40 years. He served as president of the Peoria Area Association of Realtors (PAAR), was involved in the founding of the annual turkey drive established over 30 years ago, and was the president of the Illinois Association of Realtors in 2002. He worked for 10 years as the Director of Real Estate for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. In his retirement, Ron taught licensing and continuing education classes in real estate. He was recently awarded the 2018 PAAR Lifetime Industry Achievement Award.
Ron was an avid fan of his children's and grandchildren's athletic teams. He coached many teams over the years and spent countless hours volunteering with various Peoria area charitable organizations.
Ron was a very generous and caring man who was dedicated to helping those who were less fortunate than himself whenever he could. He was a man of great wit and wisdom and will be sorely missed.
A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, also at the church, with a half-hour prior visitation. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. Burial of cremains will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Thomas Church in Peoria Heights.
