GERMANTOWN HILLS - Sue Ellen Fandel, 74, of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 11:51 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
She was born on May 2, 1943, in Ipava, IL, to Robert and Wilma Mae (Jones) Boales. She married Austin J. Fandel in Chicago, IL, on February 24, 1968. He passed away on December 25, 2004.
Surviving are her children, Cathy (Chris) Keim and Tina (Gary) Frank, both of East Peoria, and Dan (Jenny) Fandel and Amy (Micky) Kauffman, both of Metamora; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta Caldwell of Tinley Park, IL, and Patricia (Clyde) Trickle of Gilbert, AZ; and brother, Michael (Sandy) Boales of Lake Geneva, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Boales.
Sue had worked as a clerk for a dry cleaning business. She was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora, IL. She enjoyed bowling, bible study groups, cross stitching and going out to family events. Sue was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was strong in her faith and conveyed the importance of faith to her children.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel, with visitation following from 4 to 7 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery in Metamora.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church Ladies Society, 424 Lourdes Church Road, Metamora, IL 61548.
