Wilma Pulfer
PEKIN - Wilma Fae Pulfer, 84, of Pekin died peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
She was born on January 9, 1936, in Eureka, Illinois, to Charles and Martha Schurch Wettstein. She was the youngest of ten siblings. She married Leslie L. Pulfer on July 18, 1954, and he survives.
Also surviving are four children, Jeffrey of Washington, IL, Kathleen of Pekin, IL, Eldon of Green Valley, IL, and Doris (Ken) Miller of Hennepin, IL; five grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Mitchell of Bellaire, TX, Matthew Miller and Trent Miller of Hennepin, IL, and Rena Pulfer and Cory Pulfer of Bowdoin, ME; five great-grandchildren, Elle, Lauryn, Macy and Edward Jr. Mitchell and Micah Gordon; and one brother, Leslie of Roanoke, IL. She loved them all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Cathryn, Rose Marie and Lulu Zimmerman; and brothers, Joe, Arthur, Harold, Robert and her twin, Willis.
Wilma grew up on a farm just outside of Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School in 1954. She loved to cook and bake and specialized in Swiss-German recipes handed down to her from her mother and oldest sister and other family members. She decorated cakes for family and friends for their special occasions. Wilma was a lifelong housewife. She also worked at various part-time jobs in the food industry, including McDonald's in Pekin, Restmor in Morton and Pekin High School. She was also co-manager of the Carmelcorn shop at the Pekin Mall when the mall first opened. She volunteered for many years for Tazewell County 4H and for Tazewell County Home & Community Education events. She was a very outgoing person and easily made new acquaintances wherever she went.
She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 44 of Pekin, IL, and a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Tremont, IL.
Due to COVID-19, the family has decided on a private funeral service, which will take place on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Ministers of the church will officiate. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced.
