Thank you Fred, for your lovely song! My grown son heard it last year when I bought it, and cried. My daughter in law heard it today as I told her about it, and we both cried again. You did us all a favor by sharing this song. Many couples will never experience the joy of so many years together with the one they love, and I think this song makes us hope that our lives will be as full of love as yours and Lorraine's was. I know that it's not always easy being married, after just 24 yrs, but I can only imagine the love after 75yrs! Anything worth having is worth fighting for...and in the end, the reward of a love you both shared! We thank you for sharing your story. Her memory still lingers on...

My grandparents were married on June 26, 1944. They had a love like no other. Identical to the love between the Stobaughs. I had the pleasure of having my daughter on June 26, 2004 on their 60th wedding anniversary. We didn't know how much time we had left. My loving grandpa passed in 2005. Sweet Lorraine passed on my 39th birthday. I didn't know you but, in my heart I do now. Blessings Fred.

Your love is very inspiring to me, especially in the world we live in, where people are apathetic and colder every day, where commitments and relationships are not taken seriously. The love of his wife for you and vice versa, which made ??you stay together for long 75 years, will touch many people, so like me, who still cherish true love, one that surpasses all... A big, warm hug Mr. Stobaugh, from Isabel Salete S. Almeida, Brazil.

Dear Mr. Colgan (Fred),

My sincerest deepest condolences on the loss of your beautiful and loving wife. Your love story and song touched my heart and moved me to tears. It's so sad that we don't see "love" like yours today. Society can learn so much from your story book love and marriage. Your inspirational lyrics and song is a fitting and lasting testamentary tribute that everyone can learn from. Anyone could be so lucky to have been loved half as much. You were both very blessed to have found each other and to have shared so much together. Dear Fred, your song was beautiful, thank you all marriages should end this way. What brought me to tears the most was when you said it was like a dream. My Dad said the same thing in 2005 when Mom passed. Life does go on but like in your lyrics it's never the same. God bless J

Dear Mr. Stobaugh,
I have much on my mind but first I want you to know how very touching and tender I found the story behind your song and lyrics to be.

I just lost my mother in April, on the 8th (2013), just a few days before your Lorraine. My father had died 21 years earlier. If my dad had outlived my mother, I think that he would have wanted to write a song as you did. He truly loved her. They got married in 1942, just a couple years later than you.

My husband and I have been married for 42 years, we are married "until death do us part". Your song and story have given me a new and fresh commitment to be a loving wife to him.

I thought how loving you were to write this song, it has your heart in it. I know people have said what a loving man and inspiration you have been, I completely agree. I do know, however, that it takes two people to make a marriage and your "sweet Lorraine" must have been loving and inspirational as well.

I hope that you are able to cope with her loss in the days to come. Thank you for sharing your song. I would like to have known both of you. I hope that you feel the blessings of those around you but more importantly the blessings of God.

With Much Appreciation,
Susan M

Fred, thank you for letting your love and faith lead you to send your song to that contest. Look where the love you & your sweet Lorraine had/have is going: to all the corners of this world, to lives in which this expression of eternal love may be the most love they've ever known as well as lives that have known such love (though few have known it for three-quarters of a century!). I thank God for this blessing, bestowed through your inspiration, because it is touching so many hearts! There's no doubt that your sweet Lorraine hears this and knows you'll soon be reunited, because such a love never really parts. God bless you!

Dear Fred,
My daughter-in-law told me about your story on Facebook. I kept thinking I knew the name, Lorraine Stobaugh. Yes I did, after listening and viewing the video I had to know for sure. I searched the funeral homes in Bartonville for her obituary and sure enough there she was. Her picture as beautiful as I remembered her. I worked with Lorraine at Hiram Walkers. She was a very nice lady. I am so happy that you both could enjoy so many years together. What a beautiful love story. And what a beautiful song. God Bless You.

I loved seeing all the photos of Lorraine and Fred. The song is so beautiful, I can't stop humming and singing it. We are unable to attend a family wedding because of work demands and distance, the parents asked us to send the bride and groom some thoughts on marriage, so I sent them Fred's song because I could not imagine a sweeter tribute to a good marriage, enduring love and a lifetime of happiness. Thank you so much, Fred for this gift of love. Our hearts go out to you, just from the photos you can see how sweet your dear Lorraine was!

I am one of the many who came to hear "Oh Sweet Lorraine" online. What a special legacy Lorraine has given the world---a love that knows no limits. Know that your family is in my heart and prayers as you grieve for this very special lady.

Dear Fred,

What a beautiful tribute and testimony to true lasting love..... Wish we all had more of that in the world today..... You and Lorraine were truly blessed to have had the life you did together....!
