Paul Arthur Hahn
MACKINAW - Paul Arthur Hahn, age 62, of Mackinaw, IL, died peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 6, 1954, in Joliet to Fred and Priscilla McLaughlin Hahn. They preceded him in death.
Paul is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Alex (Christina) Hahn, Eric Hahn and Nicole (Chris) Luebke; stepchildren, Cole, Carly and Cody Mitzelfelt; and his granddaughter, Olivia Luebke.
Paul is best known as the founder and award-winning winemaker of Mackinaw Valley Vineyard and for welcoming people to his backyard for the Summer concerts.
Paul was active in many pursuits and served on the Tazewell County board and two school boards; was a 25-year volunteer fireman; was a Past President and officer in the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintners Association; was a member of the Methodist church; earned the rank of 32nd degree Mason; and was the recipient of the Lincoln Day award from the Tazewell County Republicans and the Illinois State Police Department Special Award. He enjoyed life, farming, carpentry and, most of all, his family and friends.
The celebration of Paul's life will be held at Mackinaw Valley Vineyard on Friday, November 25, 2016. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services following at 3 p.m. Private graveside committal at Lindsey Cemetery will be at 4:30 p.m. Following the burial, there will be a gathering in the tasting room from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
