ROANOKE - William W. Fehr, 93, of Roanoke, IL, passed away at 12:14 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka, where he was a resident.
He was born on November 18, 1923, in Roanoke to Benjamin J. and Otillia Schumacher Fehr. He married Bettie Mulkey on May 12, 1945, in Denison, TX. She passed away on March 17, 2000.
Surviving are one son, Rick (Peg) Fehr of Carlinville, IL; three daughters, Janis (Norm) Rechkemmer of Tucson, AZ, Cindy (Bob Olt) Fehr of Havana, IL, and Kim (Dave) Pagitt of Normal IL; one sister, Bena Mae Rocke of Eureka; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Isaac, Edward and Ben Fehr; two sisters, Doris Guingrich and Lois DesCarpentrie; and one great-grandson.
An Army Air Corp veteran, Bill served his country in World War II. He was a member of the Roanoke American Legion Post #463.
A lifelong farmer in the Roanoke area, Bill also was the postmaster in Roanoke for 23 years. He served on the Roanoke-Benson School board for numerous terms, serving in the capacity as president for some of those years.
He was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church, where funeral services will be held on at 10 a.m. Friday, August 25. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Friday, prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
