Obituary Condolences

Washington - Kaye Shipley, 60, of Washington died at 1:44 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born on April 30, 1949, in Heber Springs, Ark., to Orvel and Mary Jo Bailey Dunn, she married Mark A. Shipley on Aug. 10, 1968, in Mackinaw, Ill.; he survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Mary Jo Dunn of Searcy, Ark.; two sons, Michael Shipley of Atlanta, Ga., and Stephen (Joe Peek) Shipley of Peoria; two daughters, Kim (Ron) Pouilly of Peoria and Tammy Ramey of Washington; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Austin, Terry and Barbara Pouilly, all of Peoria, and Katherine Crisp of Washington; and her sister, Kathy (Bill) Fulcher of Ida, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her father and two nephews, Adam and Tim Perkins.

Kaye was the president of Illinois Women's Missionary Union (affiliated with the Southern Baptist Church). Missions were her passion, and she was active for many years.

She was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009. The Rev. Steve Hardin will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Additional visitation will be held an hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Kaye's life verse was 2 Corinthians 4:7, which says, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.''
