Roger LeRoy Obituary

PEORIA - Roger V. LeRoy, 81, of 117 N. Western Ave., No. 403, Peoria, passed away at 3:36 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Oct. 21, 1931, in Peoria to Chester W. and Bessie M. Block LeRoy. He married Dorothy Dreher on March 2, 1951, in Peoria.

She survives along with three sons, Jeffrey R. (Marydale) LeRoy of Peoria, Stephen W. (Cathy) LeRoy of Havana and Gregory M. (Angie) LeRoy of East Peoria; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Mordue of Pilot Point, Texas, and Loretta Parker of Story City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and two brothers.

Roger had been an electrician with the IBEW Local 34 since 1965, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of the West Bluff Christian Church.

He was involved with his sons in sports and scouting. He was always there for anybody who needed help. He loved his entire family and tried to be there for all of them.

Roger loved golfing with his brother and cousin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing with his wife, sons and grandsons. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Lashley will officiate. A visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the services. Cremation will then be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.
