PEORIA - Henry Harrison Day Jr., 84, of Hanna, Wyo., formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo.
He was born Oct. 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to Henry and Lilly Berniece Day. He married Donna Jean Lindley in Bartonville, Ill., on Jan. 23, 1954. She survives.
Also surviving are his five children, Cindy (Wayne) Schuck of Spring Valley, Ill., Steve (Leora) Day of Mapleton, Ill., Brenda Dillree of Peoria Heights, Ill., Debbie (Phil) Purkel of Peoria, Ill., and Mark Day of Peoria, Ill.; two brothers, Paul (Carole) Day of Canton, Ga., and Larry (Marcia) Day of Bartonville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet.
Henry attended grade school in southern Illinois and moved to Peoria, Ill., where he attended Manual High School and Bradley University.
Henry served four years as an aviation electrician in the United States Navy.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 34 and worked many years as a electrician. He was a past commander of the American Legion Charles D. Lodger Post 65 in Glasford, Ill.
He loved the outdoors and spent his free time fishing, hunting and camping. After retirement, Henry and Donna moved to Wyoming to enjoy the mountains.
He became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hanna, Wyo., on April 4, 2004.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Valley Chapel, located in the Saratoga Cemetery.
