William Ritchey Obituary

CANTON - William "Bill" Scott Ritchey, 85, of Canton passed away at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wis.

He was born on June 16, 1928, in Canton to John and Mildred (Stone) Ritchey. Bill married Jo Ann Lane.

Surviving are two children, Blair Scott Ritchey of Canton and Amy Jo (Gail) McGinnis of East Peoria; one grandson, Trevor Patrick McGinnis of East Peoria; and his special friend, Jan Byce of Madison, Wis.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill graduated from Canton High School and the MRA Executive Menswear School of Banking.

He co-owned Jack & Bill's Apparel Inc. from 1952 to 1986.

He served on the Board of Directors of Mutual Savings & Loan Association as first vice president, was an original incorporator of Community Bank & Trust Company and served as chairman of the board of Illinois Developers, We Ma Tuk Association, Illinois Men & Boys Wear Association and various Canton industries. Bill was on the Canton Park Board, Canton Friendship Festival past president, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, member of Spoon River College Foundation and Graham Hospital Board. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church, YMCA, Mohammed Shrine, Masonic Lodge 734, Scottish Rite Consistory, B.P.O.E. Elks, Canton Chamber of Commerce, Canton Country Club, Kiwanis Club and Union League Club in Chicago.

Bill was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air National Guard.

His hobbies included walking and watching the stock market.

Private graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, Greenwood Cemetery in Canton. Father Larry Sepich will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
