Larry Waterfield Obituary

LONDON MILLS - Larry George Waterfield, 70, of London Mills passed away and was crowned in glory on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at his home that he built for his family.

Son of Charles and Zella Waterfield of Moberly, Mo., Larry graduated from high school in Moberly in 1961. He received his associate's degree in electronics in 1963 and went to work for Peabody Coal Company.

He married Glenda Marie Johnson on Nov. 6, 1965, and moved to Galesburg. They then moved to Peoria, where Larry completed a four-year apprenticeship for IBEW Local 34 of which he was a member for 50 years. They moved to London Mills in 1972, where they resided until his death.

Larry is survived by his wife and three children, Glennette (James) Barclay of London Mills, Glenn (Jacqueline) Waterfield of Chillicothe and Lori (Marcus) Kugler of London Mills. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. His surviving siblings include sisters Virginia Garrott of Moberly, Mo., and Rosemary Humphrey of Tulsa, Okla.

Larry's last employers include Meister Electric and Western Illinois University.

He was known as a devoted husband and father whose example will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26).

Although we will miss Larry, we are comforted in his salvation and new life given through grace by his faith in Jesus Christ.

Larry's visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m., and his funeral will be Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. Both will be at the London Mills United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the West Midway Cemetery in London Mills, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the London United Methodist Church for electrical upgrade by IBEW Journeymen.
