Mack L. "Bobby Mack" Lipe
EAST PEORIA - Mack L. "Bobby Mack" Lipe, 83, of East Peoria passed away at 9:06 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mack was born October 19, 1932, in Rogersville, TN, to Mack Earl and Thelma Louise Hilton Lipe. He married Annette Staes on December 3, 1965, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Lisa McWherter of Greenville, TN, Denise Griffin of East Peoria, Tracy (David) Martens of Peoria and Shannon (Chad) Weber and Nicole Lipe, both of East Peoria; grandchildren, Dustin (Rebecca) McWherter, Katie, Gunnar and Garrett Griffin, Joshua (Robin) Fries, Taylor and Cole Dixon and Jacob (Adrienne) Lipe; three great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Thames; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mack's first love was his wife of 50 years, Annette, whom he cherished, and his family. He loved spending time with them and caring for them. He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed for two years in Korea.
His passion in life was music and entertaining under his stage name, Bobby Mack, the man with 1000 voices. He recorded and wrote songs in Nashville after moving to East Peoria, where he continued performing. Along with his band, he backed up many big names in country music over the years when they played locally. Mack owned the Music Mill, the Field Steakhouse and the Driftwood, entertaining there and at many other local venues and supper clubs until his health slowed him down.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday August 5, 2016, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria, with military honors following the service. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016, at the funeral home.
