Thomas Slavens Obituary
PEORIA - Thomas R. "Tee" Slavens, age 79, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday Aug. 14, 2016, at 12:55 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Known as "Papa Tee" by his family.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1937, in Peoria to Thomas and Doreatha Slavens. He married Delores "Dee" Cecil on Aug. 31, 1963, in Peoria. She passed away Jan. 30, 2013, in Florida.
Survivors include two sons: Don (DeAnna) Slavens of Peoria, Kevin (Leigh) Slavens of Peoria; four grandchildren: Sara (Ray) Besimi, Stephanie (Ryan) Tucker, Corey Slavens, Kaylee Slavens; two great-grandchildren: R.J., and Raiden Tucker; one brother, David (Peggy) Slavens of Peoria; and one sister, Patricia of Peoria.
Tom graduated from Peoria Woodruff High School in 1955. He then went into the United States Air Force serving from 1955 through 1959. Following his time in the Military, Tom attended Bradley University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
He first worked for Keystone Steel and Wire, Co. in Bartonville. Following Keystone he became an Executive Vice President of Peoria Savings and Loan then Tom and Dee moved to Sun City Center, Florida in 1996 where he was the Branch Manager of Sun Trust Bank in Sun City Center, FL.
He was a member of the Peoria Rotary Club, Peoria and Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the East Peoria Community Baseball program or the Alzheimer's Association Peoria Chapter.

The bond between brothers is unbreakable. Witnessing the grief in my home as my father-in-law mourns the loss of his younger brother bring tears to my eyes and sorrow to my heart. My prayers are with Dave, Patricia, Donald, Kevin, and their families at this time. Uncle Tee was always a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed visiting with him the last 7 years. I also know Tom had many friends. I pray for you during this time as well. Friendship is irreplaceable and those memories made will forever be priceless.

So sorry for your loss. Our friendship was long and loving and I am so happy I had them in my life. Dee and Tee introduced me to the beautiful music of Peter, Paul and Mary and Johnny Mathis. What a gracious and kind person he was.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I have known Tom and Dee for probably 50 years. I've watched Don and Kevin grow up, marry and have children. The family is very special to me. I have a lot of memories I will have close to my heart. My sincere sympathy to you and your families.
