David Holt Obituary
METAMORA - David A. Holt, 80, of Metamora, IL, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, at his residence.
Dave was born on November 26, 1940, in Peoria, the son of Esselman A and Ione (McKinney) Holt.
He is survived by two sons, David A. Holt Jr. of Edwards, IL, and Timothy (Susan) Holt of Metamora; and one daughter, Susan (Doug) Campbell of Custer, SD. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Kelsey (Jeremy) Treece, Kristen Holt and Lauren Holt; and one sister, V. Ann Robinson of Peoria; along with two nieces, two nephews and his four-legged partner, Akita.
His parents preceded him in death.
He was a 1958 graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria. Dave served 27 years with the Peoria Police Department. After his retirement, he worked for five years at the Center For Prevention of Abuse. He co-owned Holt Home Improvement, was a coach for Von Steuben Little League, served on the Friendship House Board and volunteered at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria and the Peoria Humane Society. Dave was a member of the Peoria Police Benevolent Local 27.
We want to thank our mother, Marlene Holt, for the wonderful care she provided during his illness.
Per Dave's request, cremation rites will be accorded, and no services are scheduled. Memorials in his name may be given to the Peoria Humane Society. Dave, you were a good guy. Well thought of by many. You will be missed. I enjoyed working with you on the PD. You were always there with a positive attitude. My condolences go out to all your family and friends. You will be missed, but will always remain in our hearts.

Dave loved entertaining, his beautiful Akita, his friends and family, but, most of all, his children. A steadfast friend who was always there for an emergency home repair, advice with a serious problem, or anything in between. My deepest sympathies to Susan, Tim, Junior, and all who knew and loved this special man. Godspeed dearest of friends. Until we meet again.
