Walter J. Kobak Sr.
MARBLEHEAD: Walter J. Kobak Sr., 88, of Marblehead, Ohio died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on November 9, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph J. and Barbara (Nasall) Kobak. He married Rose Gerzeny on December 3, 1949 and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2011.
Walter was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served his country during World War II. During his working career, he worked as a mechanic at Marshall Motor Company in Mayfield Heights, Ohio until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead where he was an altar server, Eucharistic minister, and active in bible study groups. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #83 in Sandusky.
Survivors include his children: Sharon Kobak, Marblehead, Walter J. (Joan) Kobak, Jr., Brunswick Hills, Ohio, Rosemary (Don) Bubna, Strongsville, Ohio, Betty Ann Stricker, Medina, Ohio; grandchildren: Matthew and Tracy Snowberger, Andrew Bubna, John and Robert Stricker; great grandchildren: Leslie and Shane Snowberger; and brother: Frank Kobak, Strongsville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife; sisters: Sue Barno and Ann Waag; and brothers: John, Stanley, Henry, Anthony and Edward Kobak.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 4-7pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 9am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead.
