Elzie L. King

FREMONT: Elzie L. King, 86, of Fremont, Ohio and formerly of Port Clinton, Ohio died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on August 7, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of the late Thomas and Hattie King. He married Mary Ann Steele, the mother of his children, on December 18, 1955 and she preceded him in death on April 9, 1976. He then married Jennie Risley-Horn in September 1984 and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2009.

Elzie was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served his country during World War Two. He worked at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton until his retirement in 1988. He was a lifelong member of the Port Clinton VFW Post #2480. His hobbies included fishing and he was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his children, Betty (King) Hofacker, Port Clinton, David King, Oak Harbor, Dan King, Lebanon, Tennessee, Rose (King) Snyder, Port Clinton, Paula (King) Pollard, Fremont; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene King, Rockford, Illinois. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11am with Pastor Paul Miller officiating, along with members of the Port Clinton VFW conducting military honors. Cremation will then take place.
