FREMONT: Vincent J. Bahnsen, 86, of Michaels Dr., Fremont, OH passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Parkview Care Center.

He was born December 19, 1925 in Port Clinton, OH to Jacob and Rose (Hopfinger) Bahnsen. Vincent was a graduate of Port Clinton High School. He was in the Merchant Marine for nine years starting as an oiler and worked his way to a coxswain. He then served in the US Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946 where he was awarded the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Area Campaign Medal.

Vincent married Norma Radde at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fremont on February 27, 1952 and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2007. He worked for Sears in the Electronic Service Department until retiring in 1986. Vincent was a member at the Church of God, Seventh Day in Perrysburg, OH and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, flowers and bee keeping.

Vincent is survived by his sons, Randy (Sue) Bahnsen, Oak Harbor, OH, Ricky Bahnsen, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Brian, Justin, April, Adam and Jena; great grandson, Jaxon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Bahnsen; brother, Robert Bahnsen; and sister, Lillian Lehman; daughter-in-law, Sue Bahnsen.

Visitation: Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. Service: Saturday, August 25, 2012; 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery.
