Constance Link Obituary

Constance May (Thrasher) Link

On March 31, 2021, Constance May (Thrasher) Link, loving wife of David H.J. Link and mother of two, passed away at the age of 78. Connie was born May 19, 1942, and grew up in Chardon, Ohio. Connie met David at Baldwin Wallace College, fell in love, earned a B.A. degree, and married after graduation in 1964. As a middle school and high school teacher at Danbury Local Schools, (Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio) for 29 years, Connie instructed many students in Health, Reading, Power Reading, study skills, English, and Biology. She was deeply committed to all her students in and out of the classroom while advising Student Council and Prom. Many teens benefitted from Connie's countless hours of care, mentoring, and counseling.

Connie loved hiking with David in the mountains of Colorado. She enjoyed growing flowers, adored singing in the church choir first for Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Clinton, Ohio, and then for Steamboat United Methodist Church in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She loved entertaining and spending time with family and neighbors, and delighted in reading, chatting, walking and giggling with her grandchildren and daughters.

Connie is survived by her husband David, daughters Heather L. Merckens (Jonathan Merckens), Michelle L. Boback (Scott Boback), beloved grandchildren Sydney Ann Merckens (9), Rachel Rose Merckens (12), Ella Josephine Boback (17), Cole James Boback (20), cherished siblings Judy Fivecoate (Clarence)(CO), Diane Armington (Bob)(FL), and John Thrasher (Sandy)(CO), cousins Joni Thrasher Millavic (AZ), Michael Smith (PA), Steven Smith (SC), and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Connie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.

David,
Joan and I are so sorry for your loss. Your friendship and love for each other always was apparent. We think back to so many good times that we had as co-workers and friends. The Halloween parties in the barn, the hunting at the farm and the experience you and I had putting the mattress in the Lakeside cottage.
These all run through my mind as I think about Connie. What a fantastic woman. How over the years we raise kids and go our different ways is sad that we were not able to maintain those close relationships.
May she Rest in Peace and Love.
Respectfully,
Joan and Art

To Mr. Link and the Girls, I am so so sad hearing about Mrs. Link. I remember my mom having so much fun with her! The Trips to your farm were some of my best memories! I'm sending so much love and sympathy your way!

We were so saddened to learn of Connie’s passing. She with Dave and Snip and Sharon touched so many lives through their many trips with students. we still have geological albums at our house. she will be greatly missed and we will be forever grateful.

I have fond memories of Mrs. Link particularly as our MYF leader with Mr. Link. She was a great instructor and role model for all of us in this group. She was always kind and supportive when we teenagers were having some tough teenager times.

As Martha (Murphy) Lawitzke says in her tribute, Mrs. Link left our Danbury-Lakeside Community a much better place.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Link and her family.

Connie was a Beautiful and Caring Teacher, Wife and Mother. She was an inspiration to all- who knew her. I will remember her for her eagerness to teach and the Kindnesses she showed to others. Connie inspired many with her love for teaching and giving that extra special help to her students. I was fortunate to have been on Staff at Danbury during her time there and to have taught Connie's 2 Daughters-Grade 3- whom she dearly Loved. A Lady with a Special Ability to Teach, Love- Her Family and Friends. God Bless The Family and Those who knew her. She left the Earth and Community and Danbury -Much Better. Martha (Murphy) Lawitzke
