WHEELERSBURG - James Arnold "Arnie" Smith, 83, of Wheelersburg moved to his heavenly home on Sunday February 21, 2021 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1937 in Sunshine, KY, a son of the late Owen and Nola (Flannery) Smith. He attended Porter Free Will Baptist Church where he was very engaged in supporting numerous projects and activities. He was previously the owner of a retail grocery business. He had many hobbies and interests over the course of his life that included woodworking, travel, golf, hunting and cars. His primary hobby, however, was giving to others and helping those in need.

Arnold is survived by a son, Jim Smith and wife Dea of Hilton Head Island, SC; two granddaughters, Brittany Smith of Parkersburg, WV and Madison Osborne of Denver, CO; one grandson, Michael Osborne of Hilton Head Island, SC; three brothers, Owen Smith Jr. of Portsmouth, "Jonas" Edward Smith and wife Mary Ann of Wheelersburg; John Wilburn Smith and wife Jane of Flatwoods, KY; two sisters, Virginia "Eloise" McClurg and husband Carl of Portsmouth, Louvena Swords and husband Phillip of Minford; sisters-in-law, Lucinda "Cindy" Smith of Lucasville and Anna Bettis of Wheelersburg.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence "Oval" Smith, Ralph "Douglas" Smith, Everett Elgan "Dick" Smith and "David" Michael Smith and a sister in infancy, Olive Elizabeth Smith.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2020 at Porter Free Will Baptist Church in Wheelersburg under the direction of the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Mark Price officiating. The service will be live streamed on Facebook at "Porter.Church". Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Face coverings and social distancing are required. Jimmy, so sorry to hear of your loss, you dad was one of a kind. I remember when he was first building the house on Fairview. I would go and hang out with him. He didn’t run me off but rather engaged me in conversation and gave me Fritos! I know you’ll miss him dearly. Take care my old friend and God Bless.
