WESTERVILLE-Ronald Lee Swords, Sr, age 78, died Tuesday March 2, 2021 at his Westerville Residence. Ron was born June 13, 1942 in Friendship Ohio the son of the late Francis and Anna (Odle) Swords. On January 18, 1964 he married Patricia A. Mershon and together they shared 57 years together. In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by a daughter Pollyanna Oliver and siblings William Clarence and Archie Larry. He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Ronald L. Swords Jr, son Dewayne, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren a sister Gretta Knowlton and a brother Alroy L. Swords Sr. nieces and nephews. Ron worked 20 years at Big Lots in Portsmouth and then as a concrete bricklayer for C.H.I.D. Community Action. He loved helping people and was a true jack of all trades. He has survived cancer since 1970. He would say what he thought; right way, wrong way as his father-in-law would say it was "Ron's way"! Ron loved camping at Long's Retreat in Latham, Ohio, square dancing, watching NASCAR on TV, bowling, horseback riding, horseshoes and cornhole. Family and friends will gather Saturday, June 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM for a Celebration of Life Service at Longs Retreat 50 Bellhollow Road Latham OH 45646.
