Phyllis Ann Armstead Miller transitioned, Monday, July 4, 2016. She was 70 years old, born in Gary, IN. she was preceded in death by her parents Edward T., Sr. and Geneva Bell Payne also her brother, Edward T. Payne, Jr. A graduate of Gary Roosevelt High School, class of 1963. Graduated from Indiana University Northwest. Phyllis retired as the TB Nurse at the Gary Health Department. Phyllis was a member of Clark Road MB Church for over 40 years,andserved as the secretary of Usher Board #1.Leaving to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Rev. Franklin Miller; 2 Sons, Anthony Tony Armstead and Ira Armstead; 2 Daughters, Cheryl Cissie (Robert Jr.) Tiller and Dana (Bobbie) Dixon; 2 Sisters, Laurie Jeana Payne and Sherri (Nathan) Johnson; Sister in law, Darlene Payne; Cousin Pearl King; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. A host of other relatives and friends. All services at Clark Road M.B. Church, 2841 Clark Road, Gary, IN., Friday, July 15, 2016 at 9 am with Funeral at 11 am. Rev. Pharis Evans officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

Was a strong wonderful woman and she had the most beautiful heart .I've had the honor of knowing herfor over 20 years she was my 2nd mom and I'm devastated because she was the only mom I had left.To the family I pray that God keeps you close and provides comfort in your time of grieving. I've only known Mrs. Miller for only a few years. During that time I found her to be a loving and caring person! She has helped my family and I many times! I am going to truly miss her! But I will remember her for her beautiful smile and her loving, helping, and caring spirit!!!
