Ewing, Barry Victor God gently closed Barry's weary eyes and whispered peace be thine on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. ' Barry Victor Ewing was born January 21, 1959 in Jackson, TN to the late Clyde Ewing and Darlene Crockett. He was the eldest sibling. Barry grew up in Gary, IN. He committed to Christ at an early age and was baptized on April 17, 1966 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church by the late Pastor Norman Brandt. He graduated from West Side Senior High School in 1977. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany for almost two years. After serving his country Barry resided in Detroit, MI and was employed by General Motors, Inc. After his retirement from General Motors he moved to Michigan City, IN. He then worked as an avid painter and handyman. While residing in Michigan City he married Jennifer. To this union his beautiful daughter, Kaila, was born. Barry resided in Michigan City until his transition. Barry was cherished by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. He will be remembered for his kind heart, charming personality, bright smile, and his strong love for his family. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Ewing and Darlene Crockett; and his brother, Gregory Ewing. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Kaila Ewing; brothers, Kenneth (Margaret) Ewing, Ralph Ewing; sisters, Olivia Ewing and Ralynn Crockett; stepbrothers, Raymond and Rodney (Catherine) Crockett; special buddy, Saul Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at City of Praise Baptist Church, 2117 McKinley Street, Gary, IN. Pastor Richard Wilford, Officiating. Viewing from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m.
