Henry 'Hank" Brown departed this life on July 2, 2015. He was born on February 9, 1932 in Clarendon, Arkansas to Odie and Annie Brown. He later moved to Gary and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952. He studied Personnel Administration at Indiana University, attended John Marshall Law School and studied Labor and Economic law at Purdue University. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as personnel and finance officer in Stuttgart, Germany. Henry was one of the founders and president of Muigwithania, an organization formed to promote the election of Former Mayor Richard G. Hatcher. Until his physical health began to wane, he was a faithful servant at New Tabernacle Baptist Church as the Chairman of Deacon Board, Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School and Male Chorus.Henry was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings (Odie, Thomas, Willie, Veodis, Charles, Thelma and Blossie). Henry leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 62 years, Venetia; three daughters, Andrea, Carmelita and Karen; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Pointer; brother, Ivory Brown. Visitation will be held at New Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2416 Pierce Street on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., followed by his Celebration of Life Services at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Chet Johnson will be officiating.
