Hampton, Mary Ann (December 12, 1956 - November 29, 2014) Age 57, passed away at the Northlake Methodist Hospital on November 29, 2014. Mary was born in Gary, Indiana to the proud parents of Charlie and Mattie Clark on December 12, 1956. Mary attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1975. She went on to Davenport College and Calumet College of St. Joseph, earning a Bachelor Degree in business management. Mary was employed at Gainer Bank and Fifth Third Bank for over 25 years. She was an assistant bank manager, a notary, a real estate salesperson with Century Twenty-One - Powers-Realty and a nail technician. Mary also loved to bowl. She was a devoted wife, mother and loyal friend. Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She was united in holy matrimony to Lionel Hampton for 33 years. Mary departed this life on Saturday, November 29, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mattie Clark; her brother, Alvin Clark; and two sisters, lda Clark and Brenda Williams; godmother, Clara Hiatt; mother-in-law, Bettie Jean Hampton. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Sgt. Lionel Hampton; sister, Elmarie (TJ) Williams; brothers, Charlie Clark, Jr., and Rufus Clark; two daughters, Deetta Crockett and Crystal Hampton; 8 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; father-in-law, Garfield Hampton, Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Rosemary Dillon Bullock, Barbara (Bobbie) Martin, Yvonne (Robert) Ware, Cecillia (Billy) Freeman; one brother-in-law, Anthony Hampton; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A very special acknowledgement to Mary's caregivers: her best friend, Francine Brookshire/ Mack; nurse, Anna Pippins; friend, Sandrona Upshaw; granddaughter, Dai'zhani Shelby; niece, Wearder Jynyne Dillon. Visitation Friday, December 5, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Family hour 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Avenue. Funeral Service Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church, 2457 Massachusetts St., Gary, IN. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
