Alice L. Bennett, age 96 was born October 30, 1921 in Hatchechubee, AL to the late Jessie and Sylvester Covington. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Frank Bennett Sr. for 51 years and to this union 5 children were born. She was employed with Swift Factory and J C Penney. She was dynamic cook, seamstress, hair dresser and loved sports. Alice was a real "Class Act" she was a member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church since 1953 and served on the Usher Board until her failing health. Preceded in death by her parents, spouse, son, 2 grandsons, 3 sisters, 6 brothers and 1 great-grandson. Alice leaves to cherish her memories children Dorothy Person, John Bennett, Geneva Bennett all of Gary, IN, Lillie Drake of Fort Lauderdale, FL ; 2 sisters Jessie Mae Powell of Columbus, GA and Rosie (Clemmon)Julkes of Selma, AL; 19 grandchildren 36 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews , cousins, friends and other relatives. Special Thanks to Assure Home Health Care. Visitation Friday, February 16, 2018 from 12:00p.m.-8:00p.m with family hours from 6-8:00p.m. Funeral Services Saturday February 17, 2018 at 11:00a.m. all services at Jerusalem Baptist Church 1741 Fillmore Street. Rev. Isaac Culver officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
