Alvin Pickens Obituary
Alvin Pickens was born September 13, 1943 in Newport, Oklahoma to Oscar and Pearlie Pickens. He was united in holy matrimony to Emile Harris on August 10, 1968. An active member and trustee at St. Phillips Lutheran Church. Alvin worked at LTV steel for over 30 years. He also served as union grievance representative at LTV (Jones & Laughlin). He was the Vice President of On-Time Transportation. Preceded in death by parents Oscar and Pearlie Pickens; father-in-law Lorenzo Harris and son Victor Pickens. He leaves behind to cherish a loving wife Emile Pickens; daughter Nicole Pickens; son Alan (Miriam) Pickens; mother-in-law Emma Harris; brothers Vernell (Tammy) Pickens, Oscar Pickens, Jr.; sisters Flora Brown, Olivia (Lloyd) Jackson; sisters-in-law Tyjuan (Miles) Gault, Gretchen (Christopher) Holley and Camile Harris; brother-in-law Lorenzo (Sharon) Harris; grandchildren Joshua Bailey, Jasa Bailey, Nyla Walls, Christopher Pickens and Ericka Pickens and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Tuesday January 10, 2017 from 12-8:00 p.m. with family hours 6-8p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Funeral services Wednesday January 11, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church 2235 W. 10th Avenue. Reverend Delwyn Campbell officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
