Bernice Hinchen, Gary resident for 68 years passed away March 14, 2017. A retired employee of Sears, Inc. and former member of Van Buren Baptist Church and current member of New Revelation Baptist Church for many years. Bernice was preceded in death by her mother Eula Darthard, father Mitchell Smith, husband Arsheal Hinchen Sr., son Arsheal Hinchen Jr., 3 granddaughters Patrice Hinchen, Jacqueline Reed and Ashley Hinchen. She leaves to cherish fond memories: 3 children Betty (Percy) Hinchen, Pamela Hinchen and Alvin (Dorothy) Hinchen. Daughter-in-law Francine Hinchen, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00a.m. All services at New Revelation Baptist Church, 3140 W. 21st Ave. Pastor Edward Tuner, officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of mama Hinchen. She will be greatly missed. I will forever remember the laughter we shared. She was a beautiful women inside and out. I can only hope to live as long or longer, she lived such a full life. My prayers are with you all. Ollie

Sorry for your loss. Mrs Hinchen was a very good friend of my belated mother and a friend to the Lyles family. I will always remember her as a very nice lady.
