Burcham Wayne Hegwood (Bert) was born on September 17, 1934 in Gary, IN to the late Fountaine and Cloteal Hegwood. Bert graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School, Class of 1954. Bert was a former employee of Inland Steel, The City of Gary Building Department, The Gary Housing Authority, Model Cities, and Middle Passage. He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and a devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church. Bert was preceded in death by his his parents; three sisters, Audrey, Norma, Vertis; three brothers, Norman, Haston, Nathan; great granddaughter, Daja. Bert leaves his cherished memories to his beloved and faithful wife, Maeoma Hegwood; children, Ina (Marlon) Scott of Gary, IN, Acie (Erma) Foreman of Chicago, IL; sisters, Phylliss Richardson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Hazel (Kenny) Montgomery of Gary, IN; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of loving relatives and friends. Bert departed this life March 19, 2017. Visitation will be Friday March 24, 2017 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Family hour from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Guy & Allen Funeral Home. Home Going Celebration-11 A.M March 25, 2017 Liberty Baptist Church 2301 Roosevelt St. Gary, IN 46404.

Phyliss - I am saddened by the news of Bercham's passing. I remember all of you fondly from Delaney and from Zion Progreessive Baptist Church choir. I pray that the love and attention of friends and God's amazing grace will sustain you.
