Clara L. Armstrong, "Granny" "GiGi" 85 of Gary, IN made her transition peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2018 with family by her side. Clara was born to the late Amanda and Lewis Stewart Sr. in Jackson, MS. Clara was a member of New Mount Moriah M.B. Church where she served faithfully. She served on the Nurses' Guild. Clara was a former employee of Simmons Mattress Company (10 years). She also worked with Catholics Charities (3 years). She led a full and happy life. She was truly loved by her family and friends. She will be missed dearly. Clara is preceded in death by her husband Napoleon Warren Armstrong, parents., twin daughters June and Julie Armstrong, son Jeffery Armstrong Sr., brothers Jimmie L. Stewart and Lewis Stewart Jr., sisters Dorothy J. Dixon and Mary A. Singleton, granddaughters Dominique D. Thedford, great grandson Brandon D. Thomas, sons-in-law Herman Reeves Sr. and David D. Thedford. Clara leaves fond memories to: 5 daughters Rita R. Reeves, Kimberly E. Thedford of Lithonia, GA, Diane (Kevin)Hayes, Michelle (Russell) Ware of Gary, IN and Amanda Lee (Vincent) of Merrillville, IN; 2 sons Eric L. Armstrong and Michael A. (Loisstine) Armstrong of Indianapolis, IN; 25 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, 2 special sisters Eleise Greenwood and Mary Ware and a host of other relatives and friends.Visitation Friday, January 26, 2018 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. All services at New Mount Moriah M.B. Church, 1917 Carolina St. Pastor W.N. Reed; Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
