Dewey always had a smile and was so well liked by everyone at work. He was an employee that as Supervision would comment "Didn't need to be watched", as he always did a good job.

Dewey Tinsley 85, to Dewey Tinsley Sr. and Eunice (Cobb) Tinsley. He worked for USX Coke Plant for 43 years. He was most recently a member of Carter Temple CME Church, Chicago, IL, and previously a member at Israel CME Church for over 50 years, and Carter Memorial CME Church. He served as the Chairman of the Steward Board, Superintendent of Sunday School at Israel CME, member of the Male Chorus and the Gospel Chorus at Israel and Carter. He was also a member of the United Male Chorus for over 50 years. Preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Mae Young Tinsley. He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Sonya (Norman) Staples; 1 grandson Brandon Staples; 1 brother Nelson (Vina) Tinsley; 2 sisters Mae Ruth Benton and Betty Crawford. 2 Sisters-in-law Betty Tinsley and Faye Tinsley a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday July 6, 2017 from 12-8:00 p.m. Family hour 7-8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Funeral service Friday July 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Israel C.M.E. Church 2337 Washington Street. Rev. Carrell Cargle officiating. Rev. Stephanie Welch, Pastor. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
