Dorothy Jean Stewart Dixon was born to the union of the late Lewis Stewart, Sr. and Amanda Ephron Stewart in Pocahontas, MS on May 17, 1938. She confessed Christ at an early age at Galilee Baptist Church. She departed this life on December 10, 2017. She enjoyed shopping and dining out. She graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1957. Dorothy worked many jobs during her lifetime starting with Simmons Mattress Factory, Gary Housing Authority, City of Gary, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Purdue University Cooperative Extension, Lincoln Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Norton Elementary, 21st Century Scholars and Gary Lighthouse (both campuses). She leaves to mourn two daughters, Charlotte Dixon from Minneapolis, MN and Denise Johnson from Gary, IN; one son, Mark Dixon from Gary, IN; one sister, Clara Armstrong from Gary, IN; one sister-in-law, Ethel Stewart; one step daughter, Juliene Jenkins from Michigan; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Dixon; two brothers, Jimmie Stewart, Sr. and Lewis Stewart, Jr.; one sister, Mary Singleton; two brothers-in-law, Wilbert Singleton, Sr. and Napoleon Armstrong; two nephews, Jeffery Armstrong and Jimmie Stewart, Jr. and two aunts, Mary Beecher and Easter Williams. Visitation Monday December 18, 2017 from 9:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. with funeral services at 2:00p.m. all at the Guy & Allen Chapel.
