Mother Dorothy Thomas was born July 9, 1927 and transitioned this life March 27, 2017. She was the only child born to June and Mattie Lee Blackwell in Memphis,TN. She was a member of House of Prayer Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder V. L. Hubbard. Prior to her transition she was a faithful member of God's Way Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Elder Gregory Williams. Dorothy was a retired secretary from Gary Community School Corporation where she continued to fulfill her love for young people. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Walter Thomas, Sr, son Walter Thomas, Jr. and daughter Gail Harrell. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons James Thomas and Jesse Thomas; four daughters Dorothy Nelson, Debra Thomas, Ruth Moore and Denise Dean and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins. Visitation. Monday April 3, 2017 from 9-11:00 a.m. with funeral immediately following at 11:00 a.m. both at Temple of Praise C.O.G.I.C. 3941 East 13th Avenue. Elder Gregory Williams officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

I was saddened to hear of the departure of Mother D.Thomas her gentle humble Spirit wisdom knowledge and the Anointing of God upon her life was one I was glad to witness and experience to the Entire Thomas family may God comfort and keep you during this difficult time I will miss her dearly take comfort in knowing she is absent but present with God
