Pryor, Ersena Joyce was born September 12, 1930 in Gary, Indiana and transitioned this life on February 8, 2017. Ersena was the fifth of nine children born to the late Fred, Sr. and Mary Harris. She attended Gary Public Schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. After graduation, she matriculated to Tennessee State University and received a Bachelors Degree in Teaching and Business. After graduation, she taught Business at West Kentucky Vocational College for two years. Ersena returned to Gary and received her master's Degree from Indiana State University and finished 60 hours toward her Doctorate Degree at Indiana University Northwest. Ersena taught the second grade at Jefferson Elementary School for 34 years. Beyond teaching the other love of her life was her church, First Baptist Church. She has been a life long member. Ersena was baptized at the age of 12. Ersena is survived by her son Gregory Turner (Sue), granddaughter, Zaconia F. Turner (Jerry), Great granddaughter Zamiah all of Las Vegas, NV, Sister Lillie Ward (Milton) of Gary, IN and Brother, Rev. Lawrence Harris (Debbie) of Kent, WA. Ersena was preceded in her transition by her husband James Pryor, brothers Fred Jr. (Kid), Thomas, William, Johnny, James and one sister Elizabeth. NOTE: Visitation Sunday February 26, 2017 from 12 to 8:00p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Funeral service Monday February 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 626 W. 21st Ave. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery.

To the family of Mrs. Pryor:
You have my sincere condolences and my prayer for strength and comfort in the days to come. I briefly worked with Mrs. Pryor when I first entered the world of teaching in the early 70s.I still remember her love for the children.May Almighty God grant you the joy of seeing her again.

to the family, I meet ersena several years ago when she came to tc on the hc side from there she moved to the al side of tc and just theses past few years my friendship along w our co workers there loved here so much good gave us a wonderful person that we all shared a special liking with she is missed by everyone that knew her there we know ur in gods heaven not suffering anymore thank you for everthing u did u gave us joy and god blessed us ever one in ur family my prayers to all of your family & son
