Evelyn L. Cain Obituary
Sunrise October 11, 1948 - Sunset October 25, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Joseph McLaurin Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories: loving and devoted husband Sheldon Cain, daughter Erica (Tommy Jr.) Walker, Alexandria, VA, son Dr. Nicholas (Elaytheia) Cain, Chicago, IL, granddaughters Tatiana Walker and Zoe Cain, her beloved mother Mesel Lena McLaurin, Germantown, TN brother, Drs. Joseph (Toya) McLaurin Germantown, TN, mother-in-law Etta Cain Indianapolis, IN, Sister-in-laws, Terre Cross Indianapolis, IN, Lori Cain, Nashville, TN and Gina (Clarence) Osborne, Saginaw, MI, Nieces, Kyla McLaurin, Keta Cross, Kayla Hill and Loren Osborne, great nephews Darren and Darius and great niece Kenadie and a host of family and friends. Evelyn earned her bachelor's degree from Jackson State University and her masters from Purdue University. She was a dedicated educator in Gary Community Schools for 48 years. She was also a life time member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Evelyn was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2018 from 12:00 noon 8:00 pm. Omega Omega ceremony at 6:00 pm. Family hours from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at Guy & Allen Funeral Home, 2959 West 11th Avenue, Gary IN. Homegoing service will be Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11am at Christ United Methodist Church, 201 W. Ridge Road. Interment immediately following at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
