The news of Faye's death was a shock to those of us who knew her from her days at Fisk University. She was always one of the academic stars of our class of 1956, and she stood out for her calm manner, her beauty, and her humanity. We had a special bond as classmates, and as fellow academics, and we rekindled that bond at each class reunion, bringing one another up on family and life as we have lived it. I loved her as one of the dearest persons I have ever known. Peace to her family. Her memory and her light will always be with us. Farewell to my friend. May God continue to bless the family and friends who loved her.

To the Kimbrough Family
Dear James and Kelly,

Let me 1st express my sympathy to your family and close friends.

Your mom was one of a few women that was placed in my path to provide me guidance and nourishment for my soul. I was always late for her class. It was the 1st class of the day. So, your mom said, "If you can't make it to my class on time, I'll pick you up"! And i don't know if you remember but she did just that. I've thought about your mom over the years and the impression she left with me. both as a teacher, but also as a stern and gentle spirit. I raised my daughter on the importance of education and staying "2 Steps Ahead". I believe that was due to your Mom. I believe we all serve a purpose in this life. I can't imagine how many people's lives she touched and guided along the way.

They say beauty is only skin deep. Your Mom was the apitamy of Beauty. She was gorgeous and kind. I wish throughout the years I had taken the time to reach out just once to say Thank You. Instead, I'm saying, Farewell Mrs. Kimbrough, you will be missed.

As a classmate and close friend of the then Faye Crowder at Fisk University in the class of 1956, I so enjoyed and appreciated any time that we spent together. She was a lovely and gracious person who was very intelligent as well
as empathetic and charming - and idealistic in her views of how the
world should be. As the
chairman of our Golden 50th Reunion at Fisk in 2006, I was overjoyed that
she came - along with over 79 other classmates,
setting a record of attendance that has yet to
be equalled. After the
events were over and we all returned to our homes,
I received a warm and gracious letter of thanks from Faye - informing me of how much the Reunion has meant to her and a gift of a new photo album.
She never took anyone for
granted and exhibited a
loyalty to her friends. I cannot adequately convey
how much she meant to Fisk, her sorority, and to
her classmates. I also was
a friend of James Kimbrough and thought
they were a perfect match. If, indeed, there is
a hereafter, then I hope
they will be together in
eternity. Repose en pair eternelle - ensemble !

Jimmy and Kelly, I send my deepest condolences to you and your families. I used to live in Nashville, Tn and attended the same congregation as your Grandfather, Brother Crowder. When your mom found out that I knew her mom and dad we instantly became close. Your mom would invite me over to her house every time I would come to Gary to visit my family. She was such a beautiful and gracious woman. One time we were able to get together when she came to Atlanta, Georgia to visit Kelly. I will truly miss her. You are in my prayers.

Kelly,

Although I was never a student of your mom, I came to know her through the National Honor Society at Wirt and later as my spiritual sister as a servant of Jehovah. She was truly a very sweet, warm and loving person. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to know her. I personally can relate to your loss, having lost my own mother many years ago. Just know that she is only sleeping and awaiting the call from Jehovah to awaken in the New World. May Jehovah comfort you through the scriptures and the hope of the Resurrection. (John 5:28-29) She only naps briefly. I look forward to seeing her again.

RIH Mrs. Kimbrough. You were the epitome of grace and poise. You were a positive example to girls of how to carry yourself as a lady. You were a "tough as nails" math teacher, but only because you expected excellence from your students. I appreciate you for the ways you've impacted my life. God bless you and your family. My sincere condolences to Kelly and James.
