Frank W. "Skip" Hughes age 76, passed away at Methodist Hospital Northlake, Friday, November 10, 2017. He was born in Gary, Indiana January 21, 1941 to Frank and Gertrude (Hunter) Hughes. He graduated from Froebel High School, Class of 1959. He was a member of St. Timothy Community Church. Frank was employed at U.S. Steel for 9 years, the Gary Fire Department for 10 years and he retired from the Lake County Sheriffs Department after 25 years of service. While at the Sheriffs Dept. he obtained the appointed rank of Assistant Chief and retired with the rank of Captain. For many years Frank delighted family and friend with his creative greeting cards. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, step mother Georgia Hughes, brother Donald Savage, Wendell Anderson, sister Delores Johnson, granddaughter Jasmin Jeffers, son Lance Hughes, 1st wife Ellen (Gilliam) Hughes, and to this union three children were born. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Patricia Hughes, sons Thomas (Lisa) Hughes, Richard (Tracy) Hughes, daughters Patrice and Kelly Hughes, 7 grandchildren, brother-in-law Marshall (Theresa) Gillon, sister-in-law Wynona (Everett) Harris, special buddies David Heard and Eddie Davies and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation Friday, November 17, 2017 from 9 to 11:00a.m. with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. All services at St. Timothy Community Church, 1600 W. 25th Ave. Gary, IN. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
