Horace Vane Russell, 65, a lifetime Gary resident, traded time for eternity at his home July 18, 2017. Born to Clement D. Russell of Terre Haut, IN and Nora Belle Biggs (The Biggs family formerly of Massachusetts St. Gary). Horace attended Gary schools and through a trade and a gift from God, he became an awesome mechanic. Affectionately known as our master mechanic. He worked at U.S. Steel and various auto body shops. Married Irma Lowe, from this union 2 children were born; son David (Lucretia) of Texas, grandson Cameron, and daughter Lisa of Gary, 3 grandsons; Benjamin, Malachi, and Derrick. Preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Clement. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted sister Lorretta Haney of South Carolina, a loving and devoted brother, Charles Russell of Gary and a devoted aunt Gloria Wilson of Gary, and a host of nieces and nephews, the offspring of the Haneys and the Russells and many cousins, the Bigg, Brown, Crawford, Johnson, Powell, Ross, and Weatherington families. Also lifetime friend, Irma, special friend, Darlene and road friend Sherman (Tank) and extended family the Bonds and a host of friends. Rest in Peace!
