Jeffery Smith Jr. "Butched & Smitty" age 62 of Hammond, IN departed this life on October 1, 2018. He was a graduate of Emerson High School class of 1974. He retired from U.S. Steel Corporation after 38 years of service. After Retiring from U.S. Steel he became an employee of Hammond School Corporation as a crossing guard until he became ill. Preceded in death by parents Jeffery (Elizabeth) Smith; brothers Alton Smith and Perry Wilkerson and sister Willa Dean Griggs. He lives to cherish his fond memories wife Nurtashier (Tasha) Smith; sons Jeffery Smith III and Kevin (Rhonda)Smith; sister Stella Franklin and Norma Jean (Samuel) Jackson; 5 grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and other relatives . Visitation Saturday October 13, 2018 from 9-11a.m. with family hour from 10-11:00a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00a.m. all services at Living Water M.B. Church 6511 West Jefferson Avenue. Hammond, Indiana. Rev. Dr. Homer Walker officiating. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery.

I am the daughter of Thomas M. Aguilar, who worked with "Smitty" at US Steel. My father always shared mill stories.

Now they can reminisce about the good ole days. Give my daddy a hug for me!
