Joe McClain "Tana" age 65, of East Chicago, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital. Joe was born August 4, 1952 to the late Arrilla and James McClain. Sr. He was a 1971 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School and served in the Unites States Navy. Joe retired from Arcelor Mittal Steel after 40 years of service. He was an employee of Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc with over 30 years of service and former employee of Allen Funeral Home. He was a friendly, loving and compassionate man who was loved by many. He will be remembered for spending time with his family, his "tree people family", cutting hair, his generosity, his unusual sense of humor and gentleness and love to his family and friends. Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife Pamela of 33 years, 2 daughters Michelle McClain of East Chicago, IN, and LaKesha Collins of Merrillville, IN; son Joe (Chaz) McClain, Jr. of San Diego, CA; brother James McClain Jr. of Gary, IN; 6 sisters Ethel (Henry) Simmons of Midway, AL; Willie McClain and Beverly Cobb of East Chicago, IN; Diane (Alvin) Reed of Birmingham, AL; Angenette (Eddie) Tolbert and Debra McClain of Detroit, MI; sister-in-law April (Barry) Barclift of Las Vegas, NV; 2 brothers-in-law Colby (Sylvia) Washington, and Mark Washington of Las Vegas, NV; 4 grandchildren Jaquan and Jawuan McClain of East Chicago, IN; Christopher and Amaya Howard of Merrillville, IN; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.Visitation is Friday, June 1, 2018 at Zion Baptist Church, 3939 Drummond St. from 4-8pm family hours 6-8:00pm. Homegoing services is Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00am at Zion Baptist Church, 3939 Drummond St., East Chicago, IN. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery. Pastor Charles Thompson, Officiating.
