Leda B. Jorden, 83 years, Gary resident for 53 years exchanged time for eternity March 1, 2018 at Methodist Hospital Northlake. Leda was born to the union of C.C. Daniels and Pearlina Brown on September 7, 1934 in Belzoni, MS. She married the love of her life Mentharn Jorden Sr. on January 6, 1950 and had 14 beautiful children. They came to Gary, Indiana in 1965 and continued to build their life together as a family. She worked at U.S. Steel Corp as a crane operator and retired in 1982. Leda was preceded in death by her husband Mentharn Jorden Sr., 4 sons Edward, Mentharn Jr. (Norwanna), Orville and Timothy Jorden, 1 daughter Leda P. Cook, 2 grandsons Norris Jorden Jr. and Thibault Cook, 1 great grandson Kevin Barker-Jorden, mother Pearlina Brown and father C.C. Daniels, mother-in-law Angora Garvin, brother Frankie Lee Daniels. Leda leaves to cherish her loving memories: 3 sons Norris (Renee) Jorden, Clifton (Carol) Jorden, Orlando (Shelly) Jorden. 6 daughters Star Jorden, Doris Jorden, Mavis (Donnie) Jorden, Patricia Jorden, Sheila (Jimmy) Jorden all of Gary, IN, Olivia (R.L. ) Strickland of Crown Point, IN. 1 son-in-law Damien Cook of Jacksonville, FL. 57 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-law Willie Buries and Bro Buries of Chicago, IL; 3 sisters-in-law Vera Devine and Murt Glaspie of Chicago, IL, Annie Lee Daniels of Milwaukee, WI and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 12 to 8:00p.m. Family Hour 6 to 8:00p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Gary, IN. Funeral service Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Clark Road Baptist Church, 2841 Clark Road. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.

Grandma Leda was one of the strongest ladies I know. She was a family person and kept everyone close. I remember her calm demeanor and calm voice during difficult times. My prayers are with my cousins and family. Love you all.
