Don, Richard, and Maggie. I am at a loss for adequate words to express my sadness for you. I had the blessed opportunity of knowing your mom as a co-worker, but even more so as a friend. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Lucy Nichols passed away Wednesday, 7, 2017 at Methodist Northlake Hospital. She was a retired employee of Westville Correctional Center with 29 years of service. Lucy was a member of Christian Valley Baptist Church, Nurses Guild, and Bible study teacher. Her other affiliations Excelsior Court #39 Order of Calanthe, Worthy Counsellor of Excelsior Court #39, Grand Worthy Escort for the Grand Court of Calanthe, Jurisdiction of Indiana; Chairperson Art and Craft, Imperial Deputy for the Princess of Omar, Grand Empress of Rubaiyat Tent #3 I.C.P.O. She was preceded in death by husband Joseph Nichols Sr., daughter Angelique, 2 sisters Mae France Lane and Willie L. Nunn. Lucy leaves to cherish her precious memories daughters Valerie, Wynette and Maggie, sons DeWayne, Carlton (Madelyn), Don (Marcia), Richard (Wilma), and Elder Robert (Teresa); daughter in law Yvonne, brother Joe (Jackie) Ledbetter, brother in law Daniel Nichols, 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, uncle Geddie Hemphill, special niece Louretha (William) Bradley, and host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Friday, June 16, 2017 from 12 to 8pm family hours 6-8pm with rites of Knights of Pythias at 6:00pm at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Funeral services Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:0am at the New Friendship Baptist Church, 1545 Waite St. Officiating Rev. DeWan Bynum, Pastor Royce F. Thompson Sr.
