Marcus D. Harris was born the fourth of four children to James and Doris Harris on May 20, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. He was graduate of Lew Wallace High School Class of 1996 and also attended West Side High School where he played baseball. Marcus was employed by Lear Corporation where he union representative and played on the company's softball team. Marcus departed this life on July 28, 2018 as a result of a tragic accident when he was struck by a drunk driver running a red traffic light on 5th & Colfax Street in Gary, Indiana. He was a member of Holy Bethel Church of Gary, Indiana under the leadership of Pastor Thomas Fuller. Brother Marcus was the Senior Warden at St. Luke James Lodge #43, Free and Accepted Mason P.H.A., and he was also a member of Muhammad Shrine Temple #134. Being an active person, Marcus was also a member of the Certified Riders Motorcycle Club, Gary Chapter, where he was known by the name "Budda". Marcus was preceded in death his mother, Doris Harris; grandparents Joseph and Ophelia Wilburn; grandparents Alek and Sarah Harris; and nieces Octavia and Kimberly Cockrell. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving father James Harris, daughter Alexandria, 3 brothers Henry (Meredith) Cockrell III; Caltone (Champagne) Cockrell Sr., Terrence (Sherylyn) Harris; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation Friday, August 10, 2018 from 12 to 8pm family hour 6-8pm all at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Funeral Services Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00am at the Prayer Tower Fellowship Church, 4595 W. 29th Ave. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.

Things seem different knowing your gone brother your joking and laughing can put a smile on anyone's face, I loved your sense of humor, and heart felt wisdom when my spirit was down, you was there for me at a tough time in my life. I am proud of you man, thank you for being my friend, I know we fell out once, but glad we forgave and moved on, had I for seen this, I wouldn't have miss a day holding on to something so small of a thing, prayers for your family and daughter, you will be miss, and not forgotten, heaven is, a better place my brother. I can't say this isn't bothering me, I am hurt.
