Maryella Peterson age 95 was born in Ware, Alabama to her parents George and Tommie Lee Williams. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Christ Baptist Church. Mary Ella made a career for herself working for the Gary Community School Corp Food Service Department as a supervisor. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No.48 and later moved to Alpha Omega Chapter No.39, where she served at Prince Hall Grand Chapter as the Grand Treasurer for 30 years. She received the titles of the Honorary Past Grand Matron and Grand Treasure Emeritus. Mary Ella also was a member of the Order of the Golden Circle Magic City Assembly No.37 and Mahome Court No.93 auxiliary of AEAONMS where she also held the title of Treasurer in both organizations, Grand State Loyal Lady Ruler and Illustrious Commanders'. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Tommie Lee, husband Pete Gentry, sisters Vivian and Cleopatra and brother George Jr. . She leaves to cherish and carry on her memories son Eric, granddaughter Janessa, stepchildren Gentry, Yolanda, Nina, sister Claudette, nieces Adrienne and Ashley and many other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Wake Monday April 17, 2017 12-8pm at Guy and Allen Funeral Home 2959 W. 11th Ave Gary, IN 46404. Funeral Tuesday 11am at First Baptist Church 626 west 21st Ave. Gary, IN 46407.
